It’s funny how weeks, even months, seem to blend in each other when you’re gripped by your obsession. For the last couple of years things have been progressing slowly, we were always taking steps in the right direction but since we know we’ve found our perfect blend, we were just dying to finish the album. All the planning ahead is now going to kick in and things are going to move up a gear.
It’s March 2015 now and I never thought I’d really be able to say this but we’ve written, recorded, produced and released our own album!! I can see now why this is so rare, it’s incredibly difficult. We’ve also released a single and put out a video to accompany it, the response has been overwhelming, people are really enjoying the music but also getting behind us. To see our album reach number 2 in the download charts with Hozier and Ed Sheeran either side of us definitely justified our decision to release it into the charts. The album reviews have been excellent and our single has been described as the “The best song by an Irish band in a very long time”. The reaction has been so encouraging, the tickets for our album launch are selling fast too and it looks like we’ll be playing to a sell-out crowd in a few weeks.
The most rewarding thing in all this for us is the fact that, through this entire journey there hasn’t been even one argument. We have an incredible working friendship, a chemistry that seems to be absolutely perfect for creating music. There’s an obvious understanding that we’re in this together and we’re in this for the long haul. Nobody had really heard of us before this but in our own right we are all experienced musicians, now that we’ve found that blend and spark we’re more determined than ever to keep improving and developing.
We’ve already started planning for the next album and I just can’t wait to get started on it, we’re more skilled and have a greater understanding of what we’re trying to do now. To the outside world, we are a couple of office workers, a factory worker and a waitress... but inside the studio and inside our rehearsal room we are ferociously driven by a relentless passion to become the best at what we do. Last Friday we finally released our debut album, on Sunday we began writing the next one, as the saying goes, 'The harder you work the harder it is to surrender', nearly 2 years in the making but all the hard work was worth it. This feels like the beginning of a journey into the unknown, bring it on!!
